In the online election, foreigners who have a valid residence permit or a Duldung (including EU citizens), as well as naturalized persons and late resettlers who have reached the age of 18 on the day of the election and who have had their permanent residence in Leipzig for at least three months.

The Migrant Advisory Board advises the city of Leipzig on migration policy issues. The Advisory Board consists of 22 members, 6 of them from the factions of the city parliament, 16 are migrants. The Advisory Board has the right to speak and submit proposals in the City Council.
